Fire Safety Systems

Fire Safety is everyone’s job in the workplace. There were 1,557,500 fires reported in the United States in 2007. These fires caused 3,430 civilian deaths, 17,675 civilian injuries, and $14.6 billion in property damage. Of those, 530,500 were structure fires, causing 3,000 civilian deaths, 15,350 civilian injuries and $10.6 billion in property damage.
Smoke alarms, when properly installed and maintained, play a critical role in reducing fire deaths and injuries, and have contributed to an almost 50% decrease in fire deaths since the late 1970’s. There are different types of smoke alarm technologies. The two most commonly recognized smoke detection technologies are ionization smoke detection and photoelectric smoke detection. Ionization smoke detection is generally more responsive to flaming fires and photoelectric smoke detection is generally more responsive to fires that begin with a long period of smoldering (called “smoldering fires”). For each type of smoke alarm, the advantage it provides can be critical to survival in a fire. Since there is no way to predict the type of fire you may have or when it might happen, it is recommended that you use both types of smoke alarm technologies for the best protection. In addition to individual ionization and photoelectric alarms, combination alarms that include both technologies in a single device are available.

Properly installed and maintained automatic fire sprinkler systems help save lives. Because fire sprinkler systems react so quickly, they can significantly reduce the heat, flames, and smoke generated in a fire. When sprinklers are installed, the chances of dying in a fire are reduced by one-half to three-fourths and the average property loss per fire is cut in by one-half to two-thirds, compared to fires where sprinklers are not present.

Fire extinguishers can save lives and property by putting out small fires or containing them until the fire department arrives. There are many types of fire extinguishers, including dry chemical fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, water based fire extinguishers and K type fire extinguishers.

The service professionals we refer are NICET and UL certified to assure you have the professionalism and expertise you deserve. Even if you already have a servicing contractor, these professionals can evaluate your current system to determine if they can save you money, while ensuring you have the proper protection. They can also develop, design and install a complete fire safety system, including other technologies, such as linear heat detection, and air sampling systems. They also repair, service or upgrade any existing fire safety system already in place.
Smoke alarms, sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers are critical in preventing loss of life and property.
